Hello fellow Thesambians. I would like to introduce myself and my new love to this forum. My name is Matt and have been on thesamba for sometime but as a Bay owner. I have 4 currently.
After a year of chipping away at my nieghbor I finally got him to sell me his 1965 Single Cab. This truck was originally bought new by the PO company and was sold to the company that bought that company out. The PO was the president of both companies. Tony the PO was part owner in the company and ended up taking it when he retired.
The SC is mostly original, obviously the rack is not OG, please school me on what is and what isn't. The best part is this truck has 22,000 original miles for real!
She has just a little cancer... Nothing to crazy. Forward bed needs replaced and maybe a inner rocker. Front floors look nee as does that dash. I have to say I am so incredibly overwhelmed with how much I enjoy looking at and driving this truck. Only have gone 10 miles so far as its not plated yet,, tomorrow hopeful will get temp plate.
The truck has not been on the road since early 80's but in 2011 it was refreshed. Rebuilt CV joints, breaks, carb, after market crap exhaust that bypass heater boxes(I have the old boxes), bunch of other stuff. She's drive able, starts fine but has a sluggish pedal at times. The fuel is about 1 1/2 years old and am hoping that may be part of the problem. I plan to sort this out before any serious trips are taken of course.
Hope you like, 1965 SC

First demerit = that truck should not have any CV joints!
Other than that, it sure is a sweet looking scab! Welcome to the world of splits!

Thank you.
The rack I'm not digging on myself. I'm a bit of a stock Nazzi so it was already in my sites to pull. _________________ Special Thanks to:

Thank you! It is custom built but very well built. Was made for the truck in 65 to haul ladders and equipment to hang billboards. _________________ Special Thanks to:

I love the rack. It belongs on that bus, in my opinion it would be shame to remove it from a low mileage logo commercial vehicle with such a history. |

Much thanks.
The plan is just to refresh when I can get to it. Logos and stock will be in the fore front of this project. No slamming or change of colors, I'm in love with how it sits currently minus the rack.
I'm currently refreshing a 78 transporter while fully restoring a 71 Panel Van at the same time. Then I have a 75 PV wait for a resto but think I may have to move the SC ahead of the 75. For now its check the usuals (hoses, timing, valve adjustment, etc. and drain old fuel then enjoy it till I can start the full refresh. _________________ Special Thanks to:

It looks super nice in that photo, congrats on the purchase.
I don't see anything incorrect except for the wiper blades.
And of course the rack.
I would pull that off myself but keep it since it's part of the truck's history. |
Thank you for your input Sir. Great eye on the wiper blades. I did find one of the old ones, hoping the other turns up.
Rack is coming of when I can get a few extra body's. don't want to damage the truck removing it. _________________ Special Thanks to:

I would not remove the rack.. it is one of a kind and will set that bus apart from the others. being part of the busses commercial history gives it the OK in my opinion. beautiful sc! |
