This split has some items not correct for its year (1950) including 15" rims from the later models instead of 16" ones?! I believe previous owner changed the front beam to a later 60s models! Any comments, analysis , advice since I am going to restore that one ! It s working fine like that though!

@ Ghia 1966, My analysis is it happened with the beam swap.
If your plan is fully returning to stock, add another spendy one to your list.
BUT, if your plan is to make it a nice driver, as you said " It s working fine like that though!"
why not roll it on the one it has while you search for a set of 16s plus the correct beam to hang them on?
(yeah, the slotted 15s detract, but may be overlooked while you score the many other things it needs/deserves?)
Your car, your budget, your call.
Best,

| Find the serial number on the beam and you can tell what year it is. Check the part that the rubber snubber fits on for the number. |

My split still looks bone stock but has a later beam and later brakes, later gearbox and also later engine. That didn't stop me from cruising all across Europe and to the major shows. on 15" ...
correct parts do show up occasionally, it's your decision if you want a bone stock or a car to just enjoy. _________________ 1960 1200 model 117 deluxe ragtop

For a low $ interim solution on your wheels, just find some 15" "smoothies" from the late 1950's thru 1965 Type 1, and paint them two-tone cream inner and black outer (spray cans are fine). Put on the chrome hubcaps too. Even though the two-tone wheel scheme came slightly later in the split era, and then only on deluxes, to most people it will look "period correct".
Smoothie 15" 5-bolts are usually very cheap here in the USA. 16" wheels are MUCH more expensive, and then you have to buy 16" tires as well. With the 15" smoothies painted like I suggested, you can swap the 15" tires on your current wheels on if they are still OK. |

| Looks like '66 or '67 drums front and rear too. Are you sure the pan wasn't replaced? |
