|
|
Hello,
This wreck was found and rescue in Sweden this year.
Now see this:
It looks like a -47 but in my world "1-056950" should be an early -46... or?
Then I remember the ugly green -45/-47 who have the same problem...
(chassi # "1-053572"=-45 but stampt as a "1947")
Anyone who know something about this?

I don't know if there are any plans for it, but it seems to me that metal such as shown in the pictures after sitting outside rusting all these years must be paper thin and just as fragile. _________________ 1967 Type1 Zenith Blue |

Not sure if its possible to make a car of it again... Maybe in 2058 if I start now...
But if we try I promise to show some progress shots of it.

In 2058 you will probably be able to go back in time to the day they left it there and throw a tarp over it so you can save it in 2008. |

Incredible that despite everything being nearly gone the rear glass is still there and seemingly unbroken. Also strange that the ID tag has screw heads instead of rivets, any other signs that its actually a 47? |

Somewhat off the topic but I checked out an original '47 beetle ID plate I purchased many years ago in Gemany for my '47 beetle (the ID plate on my '47 at the time was in pretty sad shape). Although it is hard to see by the photo, this chassis number is 1-056680 - exactly 270 bugs older than this Swedish bug. Fortunately, my '47 (although long since sold) was in much better condition. |

Don't take any of this personally, most of us here have paid $ for worse cars than that. And not just a little $ either.
Just as a joke take it to the paint shop and ask if they can match that color green and how much they'd charge for a respray. Videotape the reaction and post it. I'd be more interested in seeing that than another restoration album. |

The ID plate on my '47 is of a different style compared to that one. My ID plate is of the acid etched variety, not embossed.
