Because the convertibles has the reinforcement brackets inside the trunk under the window, it seems there is not enough space for the ears on the trunk liner when installed... Without folding the cardboard 90 degrees.
What did Karmann do to make them fit?
Cut the edges on the cardboard on each side? Or fold the cardboard 90 degrees?
Can anyone out there provide a picture of an installed original trunk liner? _________________ http://outlavws.blogspot.com |

Different years, but same method. All these convertibles have the reinforcement by the hood hinges. Only the last picture looks like it is original, but you see the similar methods.
I have had a 54, 63, and 69 convertibles. The last year I believe for the reinforcements was 1967. I am currently working on a Heb replica with a split front clip and oval era vert windshield frame and reinforcements for under the hood. Should be nearly the same profile. If in doubt, you could make a cardboard tracing and see how things fit best. Good luck. |
