That is a tough question, especially since Vanagon Crew Cabs were never sold in the United States....right?

I am just curious if there was ever one built for a foregn market (one of the major ones, not like the Greenland only pot ash powered Thing or someting)

Were they ever intended for the north american market? Or are all the examples here imported?

Nothing like seeing one in the flesh.

The green one on the right is a diesel that I believe was originally from Canada. These two were both at the VW Transporterfest, a show I put on here in the Boston area at the Brookline Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation. The 19th annual edition is already scheduled for Sept. 26th, 2004. It's a great location and we typically get about 75-80 buses.

Hi Stan, these things are tricky, you need to click on the pic to get all the way to the page with just the image, and no description, then use that address. It took me a month to figure that out Rolling Eyes Jeremy
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Most or imports from elsewhere, but diesel crew cabs were sold in Canada, I've heard they weren't sold in the US.
The green one in Stanogons/Jeremy's pics looks to be ex German army... Canadian forces use the Iltis, but as far as I know never a vanagon.

My first Vanagon Double-Cab was a Blue 83 Diesel. It was from Germany and was used at some brewery. Somehow ended up in Santa Cruz.
I liked it alot but didn't know much about diesels. I ended up putting a GTI
motor in. I was sorry I did that, I should have just left it stock. I sold it eventually it just sat in my driveway.

Yes the tan crewcab is Greg Malaney's (Greg's repair in Natick, MA). Last I heard it was for sale and he was looking to get 10k. It's a really nice truck!
