Just got this unit from COSTCO thought I would share some pics. This is a pressurized 3.8 gallon water source that has numerous mounting options, I chose the hitch receiver option. It is called the waterPORT you can pressurize from your hose at the house or wherever or the pump cap and it also has a Schrader valve for a bike pump, has a pressure relief valve also. when I received it I filled it up from the hose hooked up the hose the nozzle shot the water a good distance on the straight stream selector. I have no interest in the company Just wanted to share it with the people here.

I like the collision protection! Back in the 70s the Checker Cabs were a model called the Checker Marathon. These iconic cars were built specifically for the livery/cab market.
They had optional water filled rubber bumpers front and rear that could absorb a fairly good traffic bump without damage - often preventing damage to the vehicle they thumped as well. When hit, a row of caps on top of the bumper blew off, allowing the water to blow out and in the process absorb impact energy.
So you get a water system and energy absorption all at once with your novel front bumper positioning! _________________ 1987 2WD Wolfsburg Vanagon Weekender "Mango", two fully locked 80 Series LandCruisers. 2017 Subaru Outback boxer. 1990 Audi 90 Quattro 20V with rear locking differential, 1990 burgundy parts Vanagon. 1984 Porsche 944, 1993 Toyota LandCruiser, 2002 BMW 325iX, 1982 Toyota Sunrader |

I purchased one of these rigs based on this post. I have the westy tank and fridge but thought I would like the versatility of the modular pressurized tank and hose.
Tested when arrived and was a bit disappointed to find a leaking quick connect on the hose. That turned out to be an improperly sized o-ring which I replaced with something I had on hand. Other than that it worked great and I was pretty stoked to take it camping last week. Wouldn't you know it.. that tank sat pressurized for three days... till literally 5 minutes before I was going to camp shower... when it decided to burst a seam on the bottom and jettison its cargo all over the ground. It was a small crack though and I refilled it with potable water and used my portable air pump, set at 5psi to provide mild pressure. Sure it leaked but also operated the hose and I was able to shower as I wanted.
Now back home, I contacted the company info.email and received a reply within minutes. They apologized and admitted that while that failure is rare, they have seen a couple. They asked for a picture of the crack and the batch number, along with my address and said they'd have a new tank out to me ASAP. I hope this next tank is a bit more durable and fulfills its intended use for years to come.

I swear at first I thought you had also installed a paper towel dispenser on the front bumper!
It looks really good on the nose there, I'm glad it's working well for you! I'm the guy you talked to on the phone. Please let me know if you (or anyone on the thread) has any questions!

Hey J,
I just checked the tracking and you should have the new tank by the end of day today. Please let me know if there are any issues. I try to take extra care of my VW peeps!
Thank you,

If you're talking about the seam that JBerger mentioned, but doesn't affect temperature at all. It doesn't have a heater, but the black plastic will help keep water warm. It's not ever going to be a jacuzzi spray though.
We also have an optional neoprene sleeve that can help insulate as well.
That said, I have seen some customers retro fit a heating element into the tanks. It's not something we support, but I've heard good reports so far! Maybe someday we'll have one available.
Let me know if I totally missed your question! _________________ Read the story of Vern as it unfolds |

Have you considered a Samba discount?
I'm interested and I can get it through Costco here but it's $250.
With the exchange rate and what I imagine the shipping cost to be, it would probably be even for Canadians to buy direct. _________________ 89 Syncro GL Westfalia 2.1 WBX/WBXaustSS

Always under consideration! We'll probably do it one of these days.
Another option you've got is Overland Outfitters closer to you in BC. https://overlandoutfitters.ca/search?q=waterport
The extra benefit of buying through them or Costco is that you won't pay the import fees/duties. I really think that for our Canadian friends that's the best way to go.

I was super unclear. I meant does the water get hot in the tank in sun light. Does it cool off quickly? |
