A former student of mine send me this link today regarding "The Last VW Bus" via Brazil. The link has several different buses from shows in various locations around the world. I have 2 questions, this fire bus looks original but the bullet blinkers are so tiny is it because they are not German? Also can someone clarify, was Brazil making aircooled Kombi's up until this month, looks like water cooled in the image?

Have you considered simply starting with a nicer bus? I don't know what your skills are, but the race is easier if you can see the finish line. If you are not a runner, don't start off doing a marathon.

looks like a early 50's bus by the bumper and semaphores, I would think they are a aftermarket unit.

Aircooled stopped in Brazil a while ago, if I am not wrong the last year was 2005. After that is been water cooled with a 1.4 litre engine (shared from the Polo car).

The fire truck is german for sure. I liked the rear view mirror, blinkers are aftermarket.

That's no truck! It's a hacked up bus. Neutral

the bus looks like a 55-58. vents, bumpers, semaphores.
It has been hacked into a truck.
VWs got semaphores through 1960 for the German market. In Germany people added blinkers to semaphore cars. I think this was required by law.
I had a barndoor kombi where a PO had added front turn signals, probably for safety. It was a US spec bus, sold at a dealership in Washington state.
