Does anyone know what exactly AJ does to the carbs. I believe I have a set and the air jet has been drilled out to 165 instead of the 150 stamped on the jet. There has also been a vacuum port added with a plastic fitting but the plastic fitting has broken so I need to fit a metal tube in the hole now unless I can find another plastic fitting. Also does anyone have a parts set of carb that they might want to sell parts off of.

I've emailed the guy 4 times and no replies.

Kind of odd but all the jet sizes have been ground off with a bench grinder. So I have no clue what is in there for sizes unless I buy a jet gauge. I used a drill bit on the main jet and it looks like 160. I'm guessing but to save money someone must have just drilled the jets that were in there instead of buying new ones.

Not necessarily....Kaddie Shack does the same thing....grinds the #'s off the jets so you don't know what they are which means you pay a premium for their "custom" jets. As if there's a super-top-secret formula for Kadron jetting. I stopped buying jets from them because I hated feeling disenfranchised. When I ran Kads, I bought jets from aircooled.net because their advice was great and you know what you have. Also, read around on this site because it's fairly common knowledge what size jets to put with which motor combo....you can really only move in full, 1/2, and 1/4 sizes anyway.

I can't speak for the Vendors in this thread. But depending on the availability of jets. Some vendors use Jet Reamers to resize the jets and a good practice is to remove the old jet sizes.
If you have a micrometer or caliper. Maybe you can find a piece of wire, clothes hanger etc. to use as a gauge?

Having dealt with both AJ and Kaddie Shack, they are secretive about their jetting recommendations. That said, both provide a wealth of adjustment and tuning info on their sites. I understand them not wanting to make jetting recommendations only to have someone purchase their jets elsewhere.

Ya I guess I can see that but if you have a jet gauge you can figure out the sizes anyway so it is a lot of wasted effort to remove the numbers.

The port is for vacuum advance distributors - like the 034 SVDA. If you have a mechanical only distributor, cap off the ports. Now - as far as jetting goes. Go to someplace like aircooled.net and get a couple sets of mains - I really dont know what your engine is, but unless its really radical I you probably need 130 to 137.5's. So get a set of 130s, 132, 135 and 137.5. Idles are typically 55 or 60s. You's dump something like $50 for all the jets. For a conservative engine, would start with 55 and 132 and then go from there.

This is all assuming the carbs are in decent shape. AJ and Kaddie Shack both have decent tuning procedures on their sites.

Ya it's a 1974 T4 1800 stock engine. I'll figure out what I have first and then grab a couple around that.

Also on a side note is there a ball bearing in each carb for the accelerator pumps?? I would assume so but I can only hear one side knocking when I shake the carbs and the one that has no knock has threads on the inside of the plug for the ball bearing passage for the accelerator pump so I'm guessing it was tampered with.
