I go to the technical inspection every year with my early Oval of 1953 and have never had a comment about it.
The micarta bushings have never been replaced.
Still I wonder what the symptoms are of worn out front torsion arm bushings?
Someone with experience?

Thanks and regards.

Excessive arm movement inside the beam which can lead to a few alignment problems. If inspection hasn't bugged you yet, its probably ok.

Despite being as old as they are, if maintained and properly greased in some cases they can be quite resilient. I've seen it many times.

I just removed the original beam from my 55. I was impressed again at how well the micarta has held up.

However, bad grease seepage around that area, beam ends/arms can be a sign of bad, cracked/deteriorated bushings.
