Sperrwolf locking shifter question

please can someone tell me if this style shifter should have a spring return on the lock cover/cap (one with the eblem of wolf on) should it return on its own when you take key out or is it manual open/close I have had a few of them over the years but for the life of me cant remember!

There is no return spring on the key slot cover

Mine do have a spring so the cover returns, and covers the key cylinder.
Had a spare I sold a couple of months back, and it worked the same way.

The one in my ghia doesn't have a return spring for the key slot. You just spin the cover when you take the key out.
