|
|
My early 68 Bay has all its interior except one thing, the mirror on the inside of the Wardrobe door and it drives me nuts.
I'm in the UK, does anyone know where I can source a mirror and the clips?
If not what are the dimensions of the Westfalia mirror? And again anyone know where to source the plastic clips that hold it on? |

Hello,
You may want a local glass shop cut your glass for you when you get the measurements. It will save you shipping and a broken piece of glass....
It's only 1/8" thick/thin basic mirror glass; nothing special no vw markings.
Edit: Yea, right. $20usd plus shipping too the UK; for 4 clamps and screws... I'd be hitting up the local hardware store if the glass shop didn't have something close... Yet, that's just me. |

I've just had a look at my Wardrobe door and I'm not sure it was ever fitted with one, or if there was it was stuck on?
Theres no sign of any screw holes in the door, only these pads (not the round velcro ones, they are modern.

Hello,
There you go, saving $20usd(+) already.... It does look as if the mirror was only stuck on with double side tape. I can see the outline of mirror sides so there's the width. Square off the top and bottom of the curved door and come up with your own height of the glass/mirror.
Next stop, local glass shop.... |

Hi, in my 1972 Westfalia clamps are fitted for the mirror, no tape or whatsoever used.
Reprowesty sells them:

Quick search, aren't these the same mirror clips?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113932997611
Much cheaper if they are! £2.90 for 5 delivered. |

Thankyou, that explains the signs of double sided tape on my wardrobe door, and no screw holes.
I think for safety I'm going to reinstall the mirror using the clips as I don't fancy a glass mirror falling off and smashing. |

put some fiber reinforced "strapping" tape on the back side of the mirror to hold it together in the unfortunate event of it breaking. _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |
