well the driver seat will not stay in position on my 65 bug. i did a quick search couldn't find anything. any easy fix or easy replacements

is it lined up correctly? can you post a picture so we can see what is wrong? no way on how to figure it out if we can't see what we are talking about. otherwise it will just be wild guesses.

i can take a pic yes.. but looking at it more it looks like the arm that you turn is to wide to fit into the rail with the notches

Does your seat have this lock release lever (shown in a circle) from page 5 of the owners manual?

If so, does it move up and down freely?

looks bent up and half broken off to me.. Pull the seat out and compare it to other one...

my guess it is bent. i tried to get it out but coulnt move it all the way.. i was going to swap passenger and driver for now and see if that fixed it. it will lock one notch above where i want it.. so its either just a hair to close or way to far away

Is there a spring in there? If not, is one missing? (I'm a '63 guy- not sure of later seats)

good question i never looked on the driver side... it didn't have one on the passenger
