On a split? Class III is a 6000 lb rating and weight equalizing. Are you really interested in the weight rating or just having a 2" receiver?
Jeremyrockjock makes some amazing looking (and functioning, based on reviews) hitches. 1 1/4" receiver but probably 1000 lbs max. _________________ Larry in OB

There are a number of old threads here on receiver hitches for split buses. The most clever ones have the receiver mounted vertically behind the bumper, completely out of sight. You would need a custom stub to go in the receiver, which is no big deal. From there you can go with a bike rack, a trailer or what have you.
If I was doing it, I would do a 2" receiver but just know that you have a weight restriction far less than what a vehicle with a 2" reciever would typically have. The important thing is that the 2" reciever gives you options.
I didn't have time to do a search and link you up to the threads but there are a few. |

I searched and there are a few, but nothing really conclusive I felt. I talked to rockjock, but he feels it may be too much weight on the frame. I was thinking of running extensions to the cross member that will give it another mount and counter balance. I'm really looking for 2 inch more than sheer capacity. |

As you've surely noticed, there's not a lot of steel back of the trans tube. The frame rails where the bumper brackets connect are wimpy at best. It would be nice to have a way to carry that weight forward to the torsion housing but you have quite some distance to travel with a lot of stuff in the way. Add a non-stock exhaust and you've significantly complicated things as well.
The frame rails are plenty strong to pull a light trailer with an ATV on it over moderate roads. You want to go over logging roads with the ATV trailer at 35 MPH, that's a different story. |

If you could get the trailer + quad + bike around 1000 lbs total I think you would likely be OK with Jeremy's hitch. More than that would worry me. You can get 1 1/4" to 2" adapters if you want the flexibility. _________________ Larry in OB
