I'm pulling for Argentina because my neighbors are Argentine and their enthusiasm is contagious.

I thought you played well. Being an oldie I can remember when Brasil had truly great teams...this Brasil isn't a great team.

What a sour person this Alexandra Petri. her description of soccer is exactly the same as when my neighbors watch so called American sport of Hockey and it is mostly played by Canadians or Russians.

I am not going to start a debate about what sport or what country is better, so please spare me the arguments. But the World Cup brings so many people together and so much excitement and anticipation.

Aww don't worry about it...how can you take someone seriously who calls the world's most popular game, Soccer...it's played with the feet...it's FOOTBALL. Laughing

It was a Brit that named the game "soccer". The US just used the British term because we already had a football game. Football is a terrible name because there are a bunch of games played with feet and balls (soccer, rugby, takraw, kickball, aussie football, american football, sloshball).

I'm aware of where the name Soccer came from (deravation of Association Football) but you'll find it's never used in the UK and probably only in the US and Canada.

yup, I need a new team to cheer, wife is Chilean and she was moking me all day today so might as well join her team.

Here is my guess:

Semifinals: Mexico, Chile, Germany, Netherlands

Winner: Germany

Don't like how Brazil is playing, don't like how Argentina is playing either
