|

I had a tough time finding this resource anywhere - so I calculated the Fuel Injected hoses used on my stock 1979 Super FI as a resource .
These are the vacuum air hose sizes needed, based on the male sides being roughly 1mm larger than the below spec'd hoses. I used a micrometer to measure. These lengths err on the side of too much. ( The only hoses not included: pair for the intake manifold, and the hose that connects the large, black rubber air flow meter elbow to the oil filler/breather. I changed the design of this one to avoid that horrible, OEM hose / angle.)
4 mm - 7.5' - used on the dizzy vacuum ( front ) to the air distribution box to the fuel pressure regulator to the decel valve ( there are (2), 5mm, 3 way "T"s used to connect all that… )
3.5mm - 18" - throttle ( back ) to EGR vacuum
9mm - 4.5' - air distribution box (2) way connector to decel valve ( the other connector off this 2 way connector is a preformed black rubber hose that goes to the aux air valve ), FI large rubber elbow connected to air flow meter to decel valve.
12mm - 8' - charcoal filter to air filter and to fan housing
13mm - 2' - FI big, rubber elbow connected with air flow meter to auxiliary air valve
I hope this helps someone looking to get 95% of the hoses needed for a late model FI Super. I have found that using the wrong hoses over the years causes either poor vacuum or hoses splitting at the ends.

Good job Alan. I added it to the FAQS/Sticky so others will find it. _________________ Glenn

I bought a new one of these filler necks and the hole for the hose was 3/4" but the hole on the inside was only 1/8". I had oil all over my engine from it not being able to breathe. What a mess. |

Dwayne
You bring up an excellent point. Those oil fillers are as much to release engine pressure as they are to fill oil - even more so !
And, they are NOT all created the same. The exterior's all look the same, but that internal breather hole varies in diameter for some reason and you can get severe oil blow-by with the wrong filler.
If anybody ever replaces one of these - YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT THE REPLACEMENT HAS THE SAME INTERNAL DIAMETER BREATHER HOLE AS THE ORIGINAL… You can drill it to size.
I need a drink to even think about the road that oil filler brought me down !!! |

10 years later and it appears to be the gold standard for information.
