Engine # 1466726 is from June 1956

The A underneath it usually means it a dealer rebuilt engine.

You night want to post a photo of the engine # to make sure it looks "normal" and is not a restamped # on a replacement case, if you are interested in knowing if it's original.

not even close to 40's Rolling Eyes may/june 56. the A means a factory re-build at some time. the 111 # on the bottom is the part #. Wink

Thank you very much. Your right the A, I can just see rebuilt under it. Well now for the big question is it worth anything?

It's worth something but hard to say without knowing the condition and probably pics to see what parts are there.

He may have picked a price not knowing the value and not wanting to start too low.

Saying "factory rebuilt" might be confusing in the ad, in my opinion, as it sounds like it's a rebuilt engine with no miles, which I'm guessing is not the case.

My Bus has a "factory rebuilt" 36hp engine in it too.
Mileage unknown...
