I have 66 bus that I picked up, and want to restore. I'm trying to put a large nut reduction box tranny in it so I can roll it off the trailer. I believe through searching a lot of pics on here, that I have a T1 nose cone on this tranny, because the shaft on the cone hits the body and wont allow it to bolt up in the front. My question is: were the nose cones different from a T1? I'm thinking someone had this tranny in a bug, and switched the nose cone out. Any help would be great Thanks.

yes the nose cone off a beetle is different than that of a bus. the shift rod is located approx 1-.75 inches higher on a beetle nose cone which would cause the interference you speak of.

If you are trying to just get the bus off the trailer, then no you do not need the type 2 hockey stick. Get the transaxle shifted into neutral before installing the nose cone.

the trans will not bolt into the bus with a type one nose cone on it. And yes you will need a type 2 hockey stick along with the nose cone.
