She's alive!
What a great looking car. You have sure made a stunning transformation from where you began. And the color is breathtaking. It makes me wish I'd considered Ultramaroon for mine.... Great work. _________________ Gone but not forgotten: 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1966) - another 1950 Hoffman split (restored in 1996) |

Haven’t updated in a while.
I put on a whopping 49 miles this summer.
Phil, you are correct, I’m scared shitless of driving her. Not that I’m worried I might do something to her but I am scared of other drivers!
I put her away for winter with a fresh oil change and have a to-do list of things to improve while she hibernates. It seems there’s always something
Is it ever ‘done’? Nope. _________________ Charmaine

Since she's wearing a sweatshirt and a jacket, I was wondering if the concrete is cold. I know I use that trick if the concrete is cold and it works ok.
Look how shiny that open end wrench is... I need nicer tools, LOL _________________ How to Post Photos

Everett, my husband made me clean all the tools because I never heard the end of it when I’d put them away dirty
And yes... the cardboard serves three purposes. Keeping oil stains off the concrete and it provides a buffer of warmth. Plus, it makes sliding stuff under the car really easy! _________________ Charmaine

Your 54' turned out absolutely beautiful!! Paint looks amazing out in the wild too. After your 1st or 2nd scratch...you won't be so paranoid to drive it. |

Exactly! You need to decide, at the gut level,if you can stand having a door hit it from another car. I have given up worrying about that. I just drive them. _________________ Jimbo

I park carefully now so I don’t get door dings in my daily drivers lol. I avoid parking lots at the best of times! The beetle doesn’t get left where I can’t see her.... helicopter mom. _________________ Charmaine

Your car look wonderful!
I like to drive my beetle, but I see you dont running radial tires. Thats a huge improvement. Find another set of rims and fit radial tires (I run 155R15), so you can switch between them, one for show, one for use
My 55/56YM beetle with 30/36hp engine running flat out often. Longest trip was 2000miles in 6 days, 750 miles in one day.
