There are at least half dozen similar frames in production, acouple of dozen on the market (at any time)... Google or Craigslist can be your friend....

You should be able to lots better.
That looks like a swing axle set up, rusted, even broke down during his thrash session.
Are you looking for a long or short wheelbase?
That one should be in the 95" range.

Dale M. and MetricMuscle are right. It's a frame style called a "shortback". Originally by Sand Toys of SoCal back some 40 years ago. I had one in the mid-70s. Since then, they;ve been manufactured by a great many companies, kinda like Manx buggy imitations. Berrien Buggy (now known as Acme) made them for many years. Other than the rear cage brace/bumper cage area, this is the same frame as the Berrien/Acme Warrior and Classic models. If you like the look of this car, it would be EZ to imitate with a new Berrien with the back of the frame custom built to suit. This one has a wheelbase somewhere around stock VW - 95" or so. Berrien offers them in 90, 95 or 100". Older used frames in this style are around as short as 80" wheelbase.

They were called "Shortback" because the back of the frame ended above the bellhousing of the trans. This one has had the rear portion cut off and replaced recently including adding a rear bumper cage.

This particular frame also has a low main roll cage hoop dangerously close to knucklehead's noggin. Better than an aluminum baseball bat for getting the driver and passenger's attention. The low cage provides a good look, but not so good for headroom. Lower seats would help, as would a shorter driver.

These frames are all over the Offroad Classified section here on the Samba all the time.

Thank you Dale! Saved me from doing the same.

This is actually one of the most common frame designs out there.
