Hi all can anyone tell me if 14" wheels will fit a ball joint beetle with 2.5" dropped spindles with out the lower ball joint rubbing the inside of the wheel?
Cheers
Adam

Probably not. The ball joint on 2.5" dropped spindles just clears the stock 15" steel wheels. They often rub on 15" alloy wheels which are thicker than steel. The fix is sometimes to add spacers to push the wheels out.
This means the lower ball joint to wheel will be 0.5" closer on 14" wheels.

Here is a stock wheel on stock drum spindle.

Here is a pic of the fit of a dropped spindle with 15" alloy (thicker) wheels. This wheel looks like it has spacers or has a smaller offset.

Does this look like you could remove 0.5" from between the two???

Cheers mate. I've had a good look today at my ball joint to rim clearance and that measures only 10mm/0.40" so there is no way 14" wheels will fit Sad
