I thought I read a thread before about how people made the oil pressure relief plug a bit more user-friendly. I can't find it anymore but thought I'd share my mod:
I dremeled off the sides of a nut. I can't remember the size off the top of my head, but the closer to the diameter of the plug, the better I'd think:
Then I just mated it to the plug with JB Weld. Now that I know how to silver solder (fine, now that I've silver soldered once...) I'd probably do that instead:
I should've taken pictures of the final product, but forgot to. I can report it works good, uses a socket size I don't have to go out and buy, and is significantly cheaper than some other things I've seen. _________________ 1990 Vanagon 2.2L Manual

i put this GW relief plug in and rilly rilly like it because it gives a hex to wrench on and a spot for an oil temp sender.

Son of a bitch. Of course after posting this earlier today I went out to check the plug because I have a habit of second guessing myself and I don't specifically remember torquing it. The JB gave and off came my nut...
I'm going to silver solder mine on. Safe to say this wasn't a forever mod, it'll only last up until you post on thesamba about it...
Dan, ya that's an upgrade I'd be interested in sometime in the future. For now I have nowhere to send the temp to, and I'd rather sopend the $20 elsewhere for the time being. _________________ 1990 Vanagon 2.2L Manual
