| My car does not have the holes for the overrider bows and I am undecided on which bumpers to go with. Has anyone mounted the overrider style without the upper supports. Will they sag is the lower bracket enough to keep them in place. I like the option of being able to change bumpers down the road and not having the holes. |

the early euro bumper / fenders apron has no over rider holes . but two bumper guards . the over riders are more for the USA cars i like the look but you never said what you have ?
this was some years back , most of that stuff is now gone going for a cleaner look now

nice clean looking bug you have there !!!
its all about what you want to do ? i like the vintage euro bumper look so this is my Frankenbug still a work in progress LOL . i just plugged my holes , im no welder to fix it right . makes the car look older than it is HeHeHe
this is a replacement front apron , as it was a Baja Bug when i got it . nothing is RIGHT on this bug , but i LIKE it !!!
its actually a 1970 .

you should be ok mounting a towel rail set-up without the extra bracing through the valence. I've had a couple of cars like this (in uk) so provided the main bumper mounts are solid it's fine. the upper supports are there to take the shunt force during a parking prang.
this is a hybrid set-up on the oval I had
