I have a New Link Pin Front beam and I am installing Delrin Bushings in it, I understand that I have to ream the I.D to make the trailing arms fit. My question is do I need to sand or lathe the outer surface of the Bushing? When I go to install them they go in about half way with no force, Should I just use a block of wood and a hammer and pound them in? I am afraid I will get them in so far and will not be able to get them the rest of the way with out damaging them. Also I have read that some guys are using set screws to hold them in place so they don't spin is this Necessary? I am New to the buggy building world. |

The Delrin bushings are sweet.
You install the bushing, then ream the ID to fit the arm.
If you search under the Off Road forum you may be able to find the thread that has a video of a guy reaming the ID of a Delrin set. It is mostly the off road guys that use them.
Those guys argue weather to "pin" or use a set screw, or just leave it alone. Two schools of thought on them. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class

Thanks Joe for the Info, just filed the inside of the beam a little where the shock tower was welded and the bushings slid in nice like a press fit. As far as the set screw to hold the bushing in place this has been a battle of opinions on here for quite some time. I talked to Daryl at Bugzyla where I got my beam and he told me it really isn't necessary to have a set screw to hold the bushing from spinning. As far as the I.D of the bushing I just polished the trailing arms a little and a little grease and they are sliding in easy and rotate with little effort. Glad I didn't have to buy that expensive reamer for the bushings. |

Daryl is a really cool guy to have in the VW hobby. I have dealt with him several times and always good.
Nice that they slide in with out reaming. I have that expensive reamer, but have yet to use it. _________________ Bad News Racing 2018 NORRA 1000 3rd in Class
