I am changing out the finger screen and fiber washer on my '71 Riviera fuel tank with a Wolfsburg West kit... Question is what order does the nut, nipple, finger screen and washer go in??? The old parts didn't have a washer.
The WW catalog diagram shows the washer for the beetle tank in two different locations, and doesn't illustrate it at all for a bus. _________________ Robert in Memphis

If the screen flange is aluminum it doesn't usually require a washer between it and the tank, if it's harder metal that won't squish to seal you'll need some sort of soft washer or O ring. The fiber or steel washer goes between the screen and the nut to act as a bearing surface. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I have always removed them to find the sock has a aluminum ring/washer built into the sock itself _________________

That's what I was thinking.. The screen sealing ring looks like an aluminum crush-type material. I ordered two washers in case I dorked one up on install.. But I was surprised to see they are a fiber washer. I hate fuel leaks and I'm really anal about em.. Esp on this application _________________ Robert in Memphis

Interesting, CIP1 calls for two washers, where the other diagrams call for either only one, or two different types. _________________ Robert in Memphis

#20 and #22 are two different gaskets. #22 has a smaller ID.
#22 does not appear to be available, at least I could not find it.
I would suspect that what you are going to receive in the kit is #20.
#20 has a type I part number and is still a available.
Good Luck
