|

So I've searched the forums and this topic hasn't come up as far as I can tell..
After multiple odometer failures and frustrations from having slightly larger tires messing up the accuracy of the speedo, we decided to go ahead and get one of the new Smith's electronic speedos from CIP1. It has a settable odometer and calibratable speed settings as well as electronic trip odometer and looks original (except for the LCD odo and reset button)
The instructions were a tad thin, but I was able to sort it all out.
However it doesn't work.
I've swapped the old speedo back in to double check that the cable is still spinning properly, even through the EGR box, and it still works.
I believe the issue is the sensor that connects to the original speedo cable (replaces the EGR box, a bonus in my mind) needs a square drive that is significantly larger than what's on the cable. It did need an adapter for the cable to screw onto the sensor (not documented BTW) and there were missing screws from the kit, so perhaps there is a missing square-drive fitting??
Anyone have experience with these in late busses, or am I on the bleeding edge here?
TIA! |
