My type 3 seems to be running okay now, but if I unplug # 2 or 3 plug wires at idle, the car doesnt react. I have changed the spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condensor, and points. tia.

What type of induction?? One barrel duals exhibit this behavior on a regular basis. Other wise it could be any of the basics: not enough or too much fuel/air, not enough or no spark, not enough or no compression. being opposite sides of the motor I'd bet on D.S.C syndrome with the little bit of info you provided. Get a little more detailed and you will get more ideas and have a better chance of figuring out whats up.

Run a compression test and if it's all in the "good" range (about 95 PSI or higher to get it moving) you should consider a valve adjustment and cleaning/setting up carbs. If that doesn't help, drain the oil into a clean container and check for metal fragments. If all else fails, you could turn that motor into an air compressor... Laughing

I run dual Kadron crbs on my 69 (similar to yours) and had the same pbolem once after putting the motor back in because I didn't tichgten one of them onto the head all of the way, which created a huge vacum leak. Check the simple things first.

This topic was discussed on the Shop Talk forum (T4) a few months back. Do a search. I assure you, there is nothing wrong with your carbs or engine.
