I just finished building a very mild 1776 for our (my 16 yrs old son and I) project car here is the setup:

Stock heads
Stock rocker and ratio
stock heater boxes
Dual 40 Kadron carbs modded by Kaddie shack
Pertronix Flame thrower vac adv. dist and coil
Norris 329s cam (about a 100 engle )
carter electric fuel pump
engine has been balanced
stock flywheel

I'm looking for an exhaust that is will matched for a daily driver. I'm not looking for race setup just, a good match for my setup. I'm going to ran heater and this car will end up going to my son.

Thanks in advance.

If you lowered the rear get the sidewinder if not get the bugpack merge headers .

I have a 2" drop in front and stock in back. Does the merge headers come with muffler also will they work with my heater boxes? Is the Tri-mil dual -quiet any good?

If you want to go old school, Empi still makes the part #3300 header. The muffler is welded right onto the pipes. I have used one for years on my street car.

Tri-Mil "Hotdog" muffler would be perfect. http://vwparts.aircooled.net/Tri-Mil-Hotdog-Muffler-VW-Beetle-and-Ghia-p/tri-mil-hotdog.htm

You would recommend the ones above over these? http://www.socalautoparts.com/product_info.php/tri...ps-p-15721

Your engine is not big enough to need the dual QP's anyhow. For a 16 year old kid absolutely get the hot dog muffler. He will tear dual QP's off dragging the speed bumps in the school parking lot.

I think that exhaust sounds like a hollowed out peashooters or the flared tips in a stock muffler. A bit louder. Nice though. I like the increased ground clearance over a 4 into 1 too.

Al's headers makes 1 3/8 merged headers. Also, Lenin-something sells them in the classifieds.

I have this one on my 1776 and my 1745. Sounds fine fits fine and looks fine. My deep sump hangs lower.
