Not all the way vintage but I thought some of you guy might appreciate it. I bought a AMR 300 supercharger from a importer in Australia and fitted it to my 36HP engine.
Supercharger and 30 pict carb
Flange that makes it bolt up to a stock manifold. Drilled and taped the holes so it bolts on from the bottem.
Had to cut a hole in the fan shroud to clear to oil filler on the supercharger.
Oil filler that sticks out.
Made it line up with the stock pulleys so that the generator tightens the belt.
You can see and hear it run on Youtube

Sweet! And I thought my project was ambitious!! Any hesitation with no vacuum advance on the distributor? Dave J

Hole is shroud may help cool the blower. |

Is the blower pressure-fed oil or just has some in a reservoir? Judson has sealed bearings and the Ampco oiler on mine keeps the vanes lubricated and cooled. _________________ 1962 Ghia vert

| It has a 009 for the distributor so I don't have vacuum advance, I don't know if it has any hesitation yet because I have not driven it. Still have to rebuild the brakes and get the throttle cable hooked up before any road testing. The blower has a reservoir in the back that hold the oil for the bearings and is why I had to grind a hole in the fan shroud to clear the filler plug. Should be fun to drive when it is all done but still not a power house lol. |

You should notice a sizable change. I certainly have in the Ghia. Judson gives about 6psi of boost. Any idea of what you should expect? And yes, brakes are always a good idea!! _________________ 1962 Ghia vert

Just got to noticing your throttle cable challenge. Will be interested in seeing how you deal with that! Dave J _________________ 1962 Ghia vert

| I worked on my linkage for the judson for almost three hours to get it just right. I can't imagine how much it will take to start from scratch. But that is part of the fun. I've built several big 2-liter motors in the past for less money than it takes to build these vintage motors but they were not near as much fun. |

| Are you using one belt to drive everything? Look as if the pulleys line up for that. |

Remembers me old engine. That amr300 are made for our 36hp!

I think the pics are gone somehow.
I run this setup for 2+ years with pci34
And 17psi all day long. Loved that engine. I never got a carb so good in afr over the whole rpm range like in this setup, I drove a oxigon sensor permanent and I had afr like a fuel injected car.
If you have questions let me know. _________________ 1960 1584cc turbocharged, 35,5/32 (11,117s 1/4mile ) |

Hello to everyone here!
Excuses me if I'm pulling back this old post after years but I need infos.....
I've a 1955 Jungle Green Oval beetle. The car is a really survivor and I would give it a Supercharged engine.
I've found many many apllication on the late volkswagen's engines but most of them are made on late 1600 engines.
On the 30hp engines I've only found Judson applications that are too expensive for me at the moment.
The application seen in this post could be really interesting for me: it's easy and fast but I've not found updates about it.
I think it could be improved building a different plate to adapt the blower to the intake manifold and moving it forward (a little bit) to save the fan shroud. Than I'vent undestood how the throttele cable have been fixed.
Have someone followed the project and could write here some update?
Regards
Stefano
