Good day,

I am intending to install SARD TOMEI (Type S) Fuel Pressure Regulator on my Karmann Ghia's 1776cc engine with dual kadrons.

Any idea if this is compatible to our aircooled vw engines considering that this is usually used mostly on water cooled vehicles and it is more of a universal unit rather than specific on one car model or brand.

Any comments and observations will be highly appreciated.

thanks,

DongKG

That looks like and the link goes to a regulator for fuel injection.
If you are injected it might be a good one.

If you have carbs then you need one that can control 2.5 psi.

Thanks so much for the advice. I really appreciate it! If I am using the stock fuel pump, is it still necessary to install the fuel pressure regulator with the dual Kadrons installed?

Depends on the fuel pump, stock original German are usually OK, stock style newer production replacements often make too much pressure, Tee a gauge in temporarily and see what it's running at.

The fuel pump installed on my KG is the German made one; however, I am not really sure as to whether it pumps gas that feeds the dual kardons with the correct psi. Thanks, teeing a gauge, as I fully understand, will give the correct reading of the psi vis-a-vis the gas being being to the duel Kadrons.

Thanks,

the carburetors don't care of the pump is German or Gene Choy, they only care that the fuel is clean and the proper pressure.

A good fuel pressure regulator and a good fuel pump cost the same, as they are basically the same parts, if you think about it. I think it is more practical to fix the fuel pump or use an electric fuel pump, but regulators can be used, tho they are not very common.
