Good morning, beautiful people.

I have a conundrum: my '90 Carat gets starved for fuel about a quarter of the way through a fuel tank; I believe the problem is a broken uptake tube inside the gas tank itself, preventing the fuel pump from drawing once the fuel level goes below the level of the break. I'm planning on swapping the tank with a new one as well as replacing all the lines.

Here's the problem though; my tank still has a ton of fuel in it, and I'd rather avoid the hassle of draining and storing it all. I've read of people switching their fuel lines (swapping the uptake and return lines) to deal with clogged interior tank filters; has anybody here done this successfully? I'd be leaving them swapped just long enough to drain the tank through the process of normal driving, not keeping the setup as a permanent fix.

Any thoughts?

I have. I don't know why it was done originally; it was like that when I got it. I left it, and it has worked for years.

Hmm. I'm tempted to just make the swap and see if it works long term... Any day I get to avoid changing a gas tank is a good day in my book.

I don't suppose you have any pictures readily available?
