recently bought a 73 squareback, the motor and wiring were all taken apart when I got it. sent the motor out for a rebuild got it back reinstalled everything I could see or find, but I have a black wire coming out of the drivers side fire wall in the engine bay that splits into another wire with a fuse holder on it, any idea where that goes? also got all the fuel lines replaced today as they were old went to try and start it and nothing from the starter, any ideas?

OK, then, that fused wire is for the reverse lamps. It goes to the + (key fed 12v) side of the coil.

On your no- crank issue, see if one of the push- on wires at the starter solenoid has fallen off.
