When I removed the factory headliner from this 8-1962 built bus it had horse hair type padding laying between every seam on the headliner. I don't know if it was glued to the roof and then fell down or was laid on the headliner during installation.

This is the first factory headliner I have ever removed from a bus. I makes sense that it was laying on the headliner after installing a new headliner and safaris in my old 23. The wind would cause my taught headliner to flap in the wind. I suspect the horse hair would have eliminated that.

Curious what others have found.

As posted by 55samba, my 67 deluxe with OG headliner has the horse hair padding--like what's used for seat padding--between the headliner and roof. It is also laying on the headliner but I believe it was originally glued to the roof metal.

I used Dynamat, see the link below on page 27 and 29 for installation details.

Good Luck!

Yes, there are rectangles of the seat-style padding.

I would be surprised if it wasn't glued to the roof.

When I took my headliner out of my '67 there was that materiel laying on the headliner too, with no sign of it ever being stuck to the roof.

Gordo.

Do you have some photos? Maybe someone can measure horse hair material thickness?

My '63 looks the same.

Thanks Clara for the reminder of why I thought it was glued to the roof - because there is residue there.

No.

I saw some glue inside the doors.

The headliner was glued directly to the doors, and to the bus, around the side windows.
