The Manxster is out of a lot of our price ranges; I hear ya there. You may want to track down FiberJet Industries, as I recall they were doing a full-wheelbase Manx replica. Depending on the style you're after, there were many buggies made over the years for non-shortened VWs. I have a hard-cover book entitled "Dune Buggy Handbook," and it lists dang near every buggy made ever. Hope this helps. _________________ Organized people are just too lazy to look for stuff

have you ever worked with fiberglass before? i would buy a shortend one and lengthen it. it is not that hard to work with and i have completley redone mine with no prior expierence. _________________ mud bogging manx in the works(done)

I've never worked with fiberglass before. I dont know if I want to buy a shortened body and pay more to make it longer. Plus time is money! If I have to do it this way I will but I would prefer to buy one that is the right length. _________________ Money is the limiting factor. donations are happily accepted! |

These guys have a manx clone style full frame body. I've seen another but I can't come across it right now. I believe Berrien might have a LWB available as well.

It's too bad Meyers only sells the entire manxter kit, and not just the body, but I'm sure it's a liability issue and he doesn't want to get burned again by nockoffs.
I'm shooting for the manxter look with a custom roll cage patterned after the manxter layout. I think I may have figured out a way to a similar dash and windscreen arrangement. The buggy body I am getting is set up like an original manx with a seperate dash that attaches to a frame rather than a one piece hood and dash. I'm hoping to hinge the dash, and I'm capable of fabricating a similar pan that the manxter uses as the lower dash with fiberglass and either a wood or foam core. _________________ 71 LWB Manx style dunebuggy

#4 COMBINATION - $7500 INCLUDES TOTAL PARTS TO:
ASSEMBLE COMPLETE CAR/RUNNING PAN WITH GAUGES,
CHROME WHEELS, TIRES, CARPET KIT, MISC. PARTS, NUTS AND BOLTS.
Running pan will have standard 1600 Single Port VW Engine—you may upgrade this at your expense |
Ouch! $7500 buys a LOT of dune buggy. And this is just parts. I've got much less than that in my buggy, and $3K of that is tied up in the 2180cc.
If it were my money, I'd buy a completed one. Your money would go a lot further. _________________ OG JHC
