|
|
I have searched many threads here and still can't find info on the hot wire to the horn. Tons of threads on the ground wire from the horn up the column, but I seem to be the only guy missing the other wire from the fuse to the horn.
Does anyone have a good pic or description of where that wire should be routed?
edit: I kind of figured it out on my own. There's a black wire with yellow stripes coming off the 8th fuse. It goes into the wire loom in front of the pedals and exits the bottom of the nose left of the heater tube. It runs in the loom with the brake switch wires. I found a nub of mine where it was cut off here. It then goes about 10" and connects to the horn. I draped it over the top of the master cyl to keep it from dangling. I didn't see any obvious clip or grommet to hold it up.
Aside from not having a power wire, I ran into:
- Ground wire cut off at steering box
- Ground wire disconnected at horn button
- Horn button contact painted over
- Contact surface inside steering wheel painted over
- Removed several pounds of mystery wiring from dash
Feels very good to get electrical stuff sorted out the right way. |

There were several tabs that the black/yellow horn power wire clipped into. The clips are fairly fragile. It wouldn’t be surprising given the wiring mess you described, if the clips are gone due to rough handling. It may be time to employ a zip tie or two.
