As with all 1303 super beetle dashes, ours was a cracked mess. We modified our 1303 dash it to accept extra gauges, and made a wood insert, filled all the cracks and primed it, but at the end of the day it still needed covering.
I looked at some upholstery videos on YouTube and found a user Cechaflo who makes "How to Upholster" videos, basically you can go to upholstery university by watching his videos -- some free, some paid.
Generally he does not do piece work, but after some wrangling, he agreed to take on our project. He created detailed step-by-step videos of every operation involved in recovering the cracked 1303 dash.
The process and work he does is fantastic. Amazing. These videos could be used as a guide for a DIY job, or as an outline for a professional to take on our beloved 1303 dash restoration. Who knows, maybe you can contact him and talk him into doing your dash

Here are a few photos of how it looked once we got it back and installed. Test fitting switches and gauges:

I'm at 19:16s into part 3. I love watching others work, it relaxes me. Nice job.

Did anybody save the movies? Part 1 is not working anymore, and it would be really useful to see it. I will start to re-upholster my complete car and this is one task. _________________ '74 1303S, L98B Viperngrun (extra glitter), German Look
