So, I finally got a more accurate diagnosis on why my ej22 is drinking so much oil. I did a leak down cylinder test followed by wet/dry compression test and I have concluded that I need to replace the rings and likely service valves.
Question:
1.) What piston rings are best and do I need to get larger than normal rings to accommodate the cylinder wear? I found NPR rings set, cheapest was $430 on eBay and some were in the $1,100 range!! This is frustrating because NPR rings set for ej25 is only like $40. Why is this?
2.) I have found cheaper brand, Enginetech, that are $47. But are these pieces of poopoo?
3.) Can you provide me links of your findings?
Thanks for the continued help Samba family!!! |

Oem are $144

Part # 12033AA210
I can't believe NPR prices are that high.....I have a 2.2 I need to re-ring too.
Like you said, my 2.5 rings were $35
Search by part number, you should be able to find NPR's for $50 or so.
