| After striping and rebuilding my 091 gearbox in my '74 T2 (replaced synchro rings, seals and a couple of circlips), all forward gears are working just fine (when lifting the clutch pedal the bus gently moves forward in all gears)… but there is a big issue with reverse! It goes into reverse, but when lifting the clutch pedal it lurches backwards at the bite point and if you depress the clutch it does not freewheel (as if the breaks have been applied). During testing I have also had a couple of times when it cannot be released from reverse gear without a lot of work. All gears worked prior to removal and linkage has not been touched. I know I will be having to remove the engine & gearbox for re-inspection, but can anyone advise what could be wrong or where to start looking? Any suggestions welcome. |
