emergency brake cables. There is a 6" to 8" plastic sleeve that can slide anywhere along the cable one puts it. Where and how does one place it? The orange manual shows it on the cable but no where can I find where it is supposed to be placed. _________________

this is just a guess, but i would think it would go on the 'ball end' (if you will) of the e brake piviot to prevent cable to e brake chaffing or birds nesting. if any of that make sense, let me know as i have been sailing with the Captian for a few hours now |

It goes under the spring plate to prevent chafing, it slips every few months unless you glue it in place.
Skills, be careful what you're putting on your ball end if you're hanging with the captain _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

No - this is not the big piece in th eback that has metal ends. It is a sleeve around the cable that slides on the cable. Small, slightly smaller than a pencil. The old cable had one on it that is partially fused to the cable from age.

Oh, that sleeve....... It goes under the shifter where the little springs that hold it away from things like the booster attach to it AFAIK. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

eeeeeeeh. This is a 1977. The ends go into that T behind the splashpan. What springs? Isn't that an earlier setup? _________________

Orange Book but it doesn't show where these things end up.

well, I put the cables back in and left those exposed. One is kind doing nothing and the other is keeping the cable from rubbing on the brake booster. More or less that is where the old ones were fused from age. If they move, a dab of crazy glue or epoxy at each end can hold them I guess. _________________

I am replacing the parking brake cables on my 76.
Grease or no grease on the cables? _________________ All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood

Grease where?, it's always good to slide the flex sheaths back and grease that area up real good, a light wipe of grease along the entire cable will help preserve it as well, everything's better with grease _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
