here Is a tyre option for the barndoor guys out there running the 16" wheels,
http://www.tyres-online.co.uk/archives/prodjan03.asp
I have done the maths on the tyre and it has exactly the same rolling radius as the original crossply.
So its a radial, has a comercial standard side wall and dosent affect your gearing, although they are 175 they sit very happily on the 3.5" wheel.

175 SR 16 dunlop
A guy here in the uk had a set on his 54 kombi, they looked good and he said they drove good to. _________________ (06:31:07) RoachGhia: "i drink dick way too fast" |

radials on 16" rims are for mindless idiots that just want to follow the pack. it's one of those things where they say "it can be undone in an afternoon"
now why would someone spend a few hundred bucks on radials and try to convince themselves and the rest of us that someday they're going to put bias plys back on their barndoor? _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

Keith, You better slam it to lower the center of gravity and control those lateral "G" forces. While your at it, four wheel discs and big motor and RJ club sticker and, and, and......

Does anybody actually make that size, and if you used it it would lower your ratios, and why would a radial 165 look like a cross-ply? _________________ (06:31:07) RoachGhia: "i drink dick way too fast" |

no, just curious.
I am going to look at one next month, but I am pretty sure it is way too rough for me. I have pretty high standards. my rule for buses is that if I can't cover up the rust with one quarter or three dimes, it is too rusty for me. |

silver coins work better due to the blinginess of them, however an indian head penny does have some stealth bling to it. the penny is a little larger than a dime, so I would say two indian head pennies.
anyone know of any original paint barndoor panels without very much rust that are for sale? LOL |
