My car is completely apart, I've even removed the doors in order to be able to thoroughly scuff all the jambs and surounding outside edges of the doors, before prime and paint.
I plan to prime and paint those jambs and door edges a day or so before painting the entire car. I'd reinstall the doors w/ painted edges and adjust them before shooting the entire car (w/ doors on).
I know about backtaping and/or the foam transition tapes... but what I was wondering is: can't I, instead of using any tape at all, just simple spray the jambs (+ hood and trunk seal cavities) without taping at all. Then reinstall doors etc, and simple scuff the overspray that will be inevitable? Going over the overspray or the complete car for that matter, with a red scuff pad seems easier than spending forever taping.
I was thinking after the doors were installed again a thin peel & stick weather stripping foam from home depot could keep sealer out of the 3/8" gaps or even just some tape around the door edge. Paint will be single stage, solid color AU.
Thought? thanks.
