|
|
I always had a soft spot for Type 3's! I had a 66 Pigalle Fastback in the early 90's! Had a 66 sunroof Squareback which I sold like 2 years ago! Always had splitscreen busses and just kept missing my square! So I spotted this early 63 and decided to sell my bus and get back in a Type 3 and have some extra money in the bank! This early 63 spend its entire life in the Netherlands! It's L469 Anthracite! Still sports a period correct SP 1500 cc Engine! Lowered and sits on a set of Empi Sprints! Interior is all OG except for the front seats which have been reupholstered! Took me some elbow grease to clean the interior but I'm stoked how she turned out! Plans are to run it like this for a while and maybe do a full resto some day! Now all I want to do is enjoy it!
Here r some pics

What about the sprint stars did u add them as well. The steering whwel and sprints sets that early square off. I have had many type 2 and type 1 but always return too the type 3 as well. |

Yeah the wheels were on the car! It's funny actually because the car sat on Enkei's and I wasn't feeling it, so the PO took them off sold them and threw these old rims on and took some $$$ off! Worked out very well for me! I jumped on it immediately ! Bought the steering wheel the day after! I had like 20 busses and a shitload of bugs as well! I will buy another project bus later! But I just had to have another square! _________________ 62 Type 3 Notchback

Congrats on your new toy! I have a anthracite 63 square as well but I wish my interior was as nice as yours. Have fun enjoying it! _________________ SEMPER PARATUS!

Beautiful square!
I just noticed, it doesn't have popout windows, lower trim or a big button glovebox.

Ah, here we go.
The only thing I noticed is that it's not in my garage. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

About the rocker trim I knew ,the clips are there!
About the popouts I will install them because I like them but according to the PO
the european ones didn't have them or at least this one didn't!
The glove box I really didn't know and unless somebody put in another anthracite glove box that has the exact shine to the rest of the dashboard! The interior paint is OG so it definitely looks like it was there all along!
It also misses (but they came with the car) the side markers !
The grey cargo mat will be the hardest challenge to find as all I can find are black ones!
The car drives like a dream and I know it is not perfect but hey it's mine!!!!! _________________ 62 Type 3 Notchback

The button changed to the smaller version from VIN 174773.
My Anthrazite 63 Squareback has the big button and no pop-outs. Gizmobobs Anthrazite 63 Square has the small button and no pop-outs. |

My chassis nr start with a 2xxxxx so that explains the small button!
It's a may 63! it has the OG interior and I see no holes to put screws for the popouts so I'm pretty sure it came without them! _________________ 62 Type 3 Notchback

Didn't know that. Are they functionally the same?
When working on by PBD, (4-5 years ago)I bought another, just in case. I didn't pay attention to see if the buttons were the same size as the one I had.
Although super-cool, being in such a tight area, and the unavailability of repair parts made working on mine the scariest thing I ever had to do on a VW.

Wow! Nice squareback, anthracite is the best early color in my opinion. My February '63 anthracite squareback has the big button glove box & no pop-out windows. |
