| I am putting together a 67 bus . I am replacing the park brake cables and noticed one side had a clip that retained the ebrake cable to the backing plate up top on the inside behind the cables spring. This turned to powder once I touched it. I cannot find any for sale or a part number. They are mentioned in the Bentley in step number 9 under ebrake. I need two of these. Any help is appreciated. |

At the bottom of that web page are links to many VW dealer manuals including parts manuals. Lots of exploded diagrams, listings of part number, name and even from what chassi to what chassi most parts were used. Take the time to look thru at least the type 2 parts manual for plenty of "I did not know VW had that part there!".
Use the "Full Index", it is a lot easier to find stuff. Group 6 should be were it is.
Having name and part number helps a lot with WWW search. When searching just for part number put VW in front of it and try both with the stock spaces in the part number and without the spaces. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

| Thank you for posting that. I have gone through all of group 6 and no luck. I have also searched my oldest etka micros with no luck. Kinda frustrating! For sure an original part. |

Pretty sure the #9 clip is for small axle nut and was dropped with introduction of the big axle nut.
#14 in this diagram:

| Yes you have to have the part to make the spring operate. Its a flat wafer the size of a trimmed nickel. You can fashion one with tin snips and a piece of banding strap but pretty sure Wolfsburg West has them. Call them? |

| Thank you Sir! Sounds about right. I thought about making one out of the brake shoe retainer cup top. I will call WW tomorrow for sure. |

| I always make them from sheet steel. If you find a source for new ones post it up. |

I’m trying to figure out how to install these (The parts in my pics) e brake parts...clip, washer, and the slotted u clip.
Please help me with pics, where in the blue manual I can find, or where I can find a schematic. I cannot find it in the blue manual.
I have a 63 DC, that apparently has a set of 64 drums on it (from factory) not sure if that matters, but the bearings and brake shoes were for a 64.
Thanks |

The "U" shaped clip is the one being replaced with the modified stainless steel finishing washer earlier in this same thread, in between the parking brake cable spring and the backing plate. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |

Thanks, ok. I’m good on the u shape clip. Where does the washer and bracket go? |

The OP was about the need for a washer on a 67 rear brake set up.I must be missing something as I cannot see the part on any of the diagrams I have, and the backing plate for the later bus allows the spring to abut the ferruled cable end.Is this not the way VW intended? What purpose does a washer serve? _________________ the invisible and the non existent look very much alike |

Exactly. Pull the forward end of the parking brake cable spring to the rear and put the clip on the cable so spring is now pushing on the brake backing plate via the clip. _________________ In Stereo, Where Available! |
