I have a type 4 (1.7L) that had a center mount carb on it. The carb is long gone and I want to put dual Solex's back on. My question, that I cannot find the answer to in searching here is, is there a left and right carb or are they both the same and mounted 180 degrees to each other for linkage hookup?
Any help appreciated. I want to get on the road. |

There is a left and right, the left carb also includes the CIS (central idle circuit) which is a tiny thid carb dedicated to idle only and connected between the manifolds with a pipe under the aircleaner.
Whatever you find make sure it all matches up, there's short manifolds that work with the oil bath airfilter and the bendy crossbar linkage, and then there's the taller manifolds for the plastic/paper airfilter and straight crossbar, the parts don't mix well.
If you can find a running set with all the hardware and pipes it's better that sourcing a little bit here and more there. Have the throttle bodys rebushed before doing anything, it's almost impossible to tune them if they are loose. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
