I do not have a Sachs # in my information.....but from the online pictures I can find it appears to be correct for VW 411 and 412.....however....several sources list it as also fitting type 3, beetle and a few other cars......and if that is the case.....then it is NOT the correct damper for 411 and 412. The type 3, type 1 and type 4 have totally different rod ends on their dmpers.

EDIT:
From further research. ...the Sachs part # 313712 appears to correspond to VW part #
113 425 021J....which is NOT type 4.
I think I had this same problem long ago....as type 4 steering dampers have always been hard to find. The 313712.....has a very SIMILAR small end shape to type 4. ....but it is straight instead of dipped downward like the type 4 and will not fit properly.
The #s that I have that I am positive will fit the 411 and 412 are:
Boge: 1-0031-22-748-0
COFAP: 22005
IP (Mexico): 22005
VW: 411 425 021 and 411 425 021 A |

I thought that buying one would be a good idea and found this one:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/71-72-73-volkswagon-typ...1888942025
The item is in California and the ad says it has a 411... part number, it might be suitable for Shlomi32.
I'd buy it myself but location in CA means quite a lot of postage costs, not so tempting. _________________ Kharon -- '62 typ1, '63 typ14, '61 typ21, '65 typ34, '74 412, '75 typ26

I can tell you by the apperance.....that is the correct part for a 411/412.
Also.....the catalog the seller is using....is also from the late 80s or early 90s....and is totally incorrect.
While a type 1, 2 or 3 can readily interchange among each other......even though they are different in their rod mounting end......there is enough room to make simple modifications so you can swap them around if the length is long enough.
However...the type 4...411 and 412....do not have the room or angles to work that eay so they have a special end on the rod. I can make a type 4 unit work on a super beetle or a type 3 with just a couple of washers and a bolt.
You cannot make a type 3 damper work on a type 4.....at all.
Many of the American parts books from the 80s/90s.....showed the type 4 as just a variant of type 3.....listing items like 3 interchangeable master cylinders and upper and lower ball joints.
