Does anyone know if they changed the size of the rear window(made slightly bigger) on a 66-67 single cab. I"ve installed both windshields no problem but the rear window that I got just doesn't want to go in! The glass is a Sekirit D-02 AS2 Measures 11" tall and 26-3/4 at the longest point of the lower corners. My unit is a 65 SC. Bill B |

If it helps with your deduction process, your window is identical in size and markings to the one from my early '65 double cab. They are supposed to be identical from SC to DC. The openings are identical as are the seals.
As far as it should go- the window sizes jumped up considerably in late '65 for both trucks- so the difference is not slight by any means. _________________

See my build thread on my '59 Double-Cab ( http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5...;start=680 ). We used a product called "Clear Guide" by Ideal that I bought at Home Depot in the electrical section that is made to assist in fishing wires into and through conduit.

It is a clear gel that is water soluble, slipperier than snot, and really helps in the installation of Type 2 windows! Easy cleanup, just wipe area with a wet towel. You'll love it!

Bill, I'm familiar with that product although I have only fished wires with it. I'm gonna give it another try using this product, who knew, multi purpose.
By the way my Bentley shop manual lists this window as 10.4" X 26" in sec A -65 page 1. When I saw that I figured it must be the size of the exposed glass. With WW rubber for that window part #211 845 521... Bus 55-65,( it does have a R-9 on the same sticker) my exposed glass size is still 10-5/8 X 26-3/16.???The total thickness of this rubber weather stripping is only 3/4 of an inch. If I did get this piece in (IF) that will leave quite a bit of metal exposed.
I'll check out your build( Again ) and see if there is a clear shot of the finished rear glass in place. Awesome job, thanks for the tip. Bill Baynes |

Bill That electrical wire juice did the job , Tightest one ever. Not sure it is the right rubber for the job, but it did go in with my wife and son pushing it into the opening.Done!! On to the cab door sliding glass installations. Thanks for the product recommendation (Home Depot-Klein tools-Clear wire lubricant)Bill Baynes |
