The post that the knob screws to breaks off?

Found some good suggestions for replacements here, but would like to do a quick fix for this coming weekend.

But I'm not sure how it works. Electrically, I can figure it out. Simple. But the post the knob screws to has a cam on it, as does the knob. The post doesn't rotate, unless mine is stuck. How the hell did this knob rotate to allow the electrical connection to be made?

"Fixed" it by putting in a longer screw through the knob. No need to spend $70 on a replacement....

and just cleaned the sink. That looked nasty in the pictures. Very Happy

Better still, replace it with a Shurflo. Mrs fxr reckons that the best fundamental improvement to 'sink duty'. Wink

What are the benefits of a Shurflo?

Is it aerated to prevent splashing? (I've added a resistor or hooked the pump up backwards to eliminate that problem.)

Does it articulate better to accommodate bulky items?

Is it well worth the $60?

Guilty as charged.

IIRC, my van's original Delta Six broke in the same manner. Rather than fix it, I chucked it.

Has variable water flow, just like your home faucet and is easier to turn on/off, especially with wet fingers.

The faucet by itself costs around $35-40. The adapter plate is around $10. Or, buy the whole kit from GoWesty for a bit more.

As stated in numerous other faucet topics, the Shurflo is simply far superior to the Delta Six. You couldn't pay me to put the Delta Six back in. Not talking

Switched to Shurflo 2-3 years ago. We've had the Westy since 1998. Now I can hardly remember the nasty old brown piece of crap...

Is the adapter plate a Shurflo part? Vanagon-specific? This is on my shopping list and GoWesty is out right now. Thanks.

Not a Shurflo item. Nothing you could not replicate, but the adapter when available is worth the time saved

No. The adapter "plate" is actually a modified boat antenna mount: http://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--fixed-stubby-nylon-antenna-deck-mount--139685 . The pipe portion will need to be cut off; it's installed upside down. Credit to madspaniard for the discovery.

Or, you can use other products. This guy used a door knob protection plate: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5692701#5692701 .

GoWesty's plate is proprietary; they have theirs made to Vanagon specs.

Thanks. I'm hoping I don't have to piece this together - would rather just order the kit from GoWesty. I guess I'll have to go the alternate route if they don't get it back in stock within 2 weeks or so.

Thanks for tipping me over the edge. I've been thinking about this for years but my Delta is starting to shut off and the low pressure option (reverse the leads to the pump) can take awhile to fill the teapot.

Just placed my GW order and looking forward to fancy faucet festivities.

GW does have the faucet and adapter plate in stock. The city water adapter is the piece that's out of stock right now. I ordered w/out the city adapter cause I've already deleted that rom my van.

FWIW, YMMV.

One advantage of doing your own adapter is you can install the faucet closer to the bowl. This lets you fold the faucet completely down into the bowl, with the faucet up against the side of the bowl. Then there is maximum room for carrying other items in the bowl. We keep our small tea kettle and 2 mugs in the bowl. To do this the center hole in the adapter gets drilled off-center, closer to the bowl.

You can get the Shurflo $10 cheaper than GW on Amazon, probably even cheaper on Ebay...

Made a new mounting plate out of aluminum with jigsaw and hole saw.
