I found one of the "oddball" thermostat brackets...


Notice the stock narrower 30bhp/36hp bracket and then the much wider base bracket. I suspect that maybe this wider base bracket fits 25hp or perhaps the earlier 36hp engines?

Both are the round hole (for the crankcase stud) "non-adjustable" type, and both fit the same on a 36hp crankcase. Can anyone identify and shed light on when/what era the wider base bracket was used?

As far as I know the wide model was in use from May 1950 to Jan 52.

A wide one came with the '51 standard sunroof 11e that John Henry sold to me.

Progressive Refinements says that the simplified (smaller) holder was used in a number of cases beginning on 18 Jan 1952, and it was fully adopted in production on 23 Jan 1952.
