Front hood seal

Hi guys,
I'm restoring a 1962 standard and got my rubber kit from West Coast Metric long before I got the car back from the body shop. Now I'm working on installing the rubber. The front clip has been replaced but the guy who installed it or the clip I bought did not have the channel for the rubber for the front hood! So I have a gap on both sides of about 18 inches on each side. It's too late to take it back to the body guy so I don't know what to do. Should I glue down the rubber after I have all the channels filled? Any ideas would be welcome.

These seals that attach to the hood itself might be an option too.
