Hi all,
So it looks like I got the temperature down. After jetting the 34 pict 3 to a 132.5 main jet I now have oil temps down to 180f after a long run. The only problem I have now is the oil pressure light flickering on idle. I increased the revs slightly so as to compensate for the low oil pressure. I don't have a tach on hand but If I had to guess I would say that the revs are now at 1200-1400.
This is a brand new engine and I was not expecting the oil light to flicker at idle. Tomorrow I will go buy a oil pressure gauge and see what I'm actually getting, but does anyone have an idea to what's going on?
Also, what are the symptoms of the oil cooler being on too tight? I'm thinking that I could have over tightened the nuts? |

What oil pressure sender are you using and what oil/weight are you using? |

Stock oil pressure light and yesterday I went from 10w-40 to 10w-30. Didn't see much change according to the oil light. |

rebuilt? reproduction?
If the main and lifter bore clearances are not way beyond spec, the low idle pressure can usually be remedied by tightening up the oil pump clearances and having a look at the fit of the oil relief valves. |

As far as I know, it has a stock oil pump and only the case is used, the rest is brand new. |

I can't even test the oil pressure right now, because the damned carburetor is acting up again. Was running correctly for 3 days and now I can't even get it to idle or run right at all. This carburetor has been a demon lol, can't wait to replace it with the Solex however I need a new throttle shaft and butterfly for that. |

Hi and WELCOME.
Idealy, it would be nice to know more about the engine's internal stuff. Like how good the used case is, bearing clearances, oil pump, cam specs, etc.
And there are external stuff that give you the problems you're experiencing.
Do you have a warranty with this engine? Did you get a long block or an assembled engine?
