good day all,

im having trouble with my 82' westie shifting from 2nd to 3rd and ultimately 4th. I bought some replacement bushings from gowestie because the car would originally not shift into reverse, once I had the shift mechanism housing off, as named in the Bentley Manuel, I stripped off the rubber stop plate because I didn't know what it was and since then I cant get the trans to shift into 3rd and 4th. does anyone know where I can buy a rubber stop plate for a 4-speed 091 dk trans shifter linkage? or if I can make one with epoxy what dimensions I need to make this item i.e. thickness and LxW?

Here is a recent thread on the early shift linkage. Yes, a replacement block can be made. Read this thread through. It addresses many of the problems you will encounter. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=672670&highlight=

I'm in the process of developing/reproducing/testing this rubber stop plate.
Tested the plate for the last 2500km and it seems to hold up very nicely.
It will take probably one to two months before i can start the first production run.
Anyone interested in a newly produced stop plate that fits like the original?
